Process
The Rudy Johnson Park master planning process began in spring 2018. Several outlets were utilized to gather input regarding the desired park improvements including an online survey and open house.
Construction began in the spring of 2020 with demolition of the warming house, removal of the playground and grading of the entire park property. The concept plan would come to fruition through phased construction over the period of the next threes years. By the end of 2020, the multi-purpose field with irrigation system was established, the 1/4 mile walking track was constructed, and the playground was reconditioned, expanded and reinstalled.
Fall of 2021 construction began on the new activity building/shelter/restroom facility. Due to the availability of materials, construction continued into the winter and was completed spring 2022 just in time for the Community Tree Planting event. The building includes a heated activity room, 2 single user restrooms, and an attached picnic shelter. The building can be rented for family events or meetings from March - November; from December - March it is used as a warming house.
