Anoka Pumpkin Smash
Book UpCycle

Smash It.  Don't Trash It!

On Sunday, November 1st, from 1-4 p.m. at Rick Sorenson Park (2015 State Ave.), Anoka’s Waste Reduction & Recycling Board is hosting a Pumpkin Smash. Bring your pumpkins/jack-o’-lanterns to be composted (instead of placing in the garbage). Please remove all candles, decorations, etc. Smash it into the dumpster which will be hauled off to a compost site.  We will have helpers assist transporting larger pumpkins from vehicles.  There will be a selfie station available for photos, too.  Please use #anokapumpkinsmash when posting your event photos to social media.

We ask all attendees to please wear a face mask (or your Halloween mask/costume) and please practice social distancing.  Staff will have COVID safety measures in place.

Book UpCycle

Book UpCycle Event

Coinciding with the Pumpkin Smash, the Anoka Parks & Recreation Department is hosting a Book UpCycle event.

We have collected gently used fiction and non-fiction books for all ages to enjoy. These books have been quarantined for a few weeks prior to the event.

Come to the Upcycle event (same time and location as the Pumpkin Smash) and take a few used books for your reading enjoyment.
