The mission of the program is to guide, nurture, and grow competitive swimmers.
This program is for competitive swimmers (currently on a swim team, or striving to make a swim team) who have knowledge of the four competitive strokes; freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly. This program will involve a mix of training groups, with some days devoted exclusively to training, some days dedicated to technique work, and some days with a mixture of both.
Katherine Wagner
Hello! My name is Coach Wagner and I am so excited to be spending the summer outside at the pool coaching a great group of athletes! I started competitively swimming when I was 7 and haven’t stopped since! In high school I won the “Most Improved Athlete” award and then went on to break three collegiate records. Along with swimming, I also played water polo and I compete in Ironman triathlons. My goal for the summer is that everyone would work hard, but also have an incredibly fun time - getting faster, making friends, and of course, playing some of my favorite games!
Program Details
The goal is to provide, as much one-on-one coaching as possible, and management will add coaches as registration demands. Program fees below are inclusive of pool time, staffing, and gear needed.
Practice will occur Monday – Thursday from 6:30 – 8:30 a.m. for those competitive swimmers ages 14 - 18, and from 7:30 - 9:00 a.m. for those ages 10-13. Practice will still take place in the rain. If there is lightning, swimmers will not be in the water, but rather will watch stroke videos and discuss technique indoors.
Practice for the 14-18 year old group will start at 6:30 a.m. with two coaches. They will be leading warm ups, stretches, and a few drills. At 7:00 a.m. Coach Wagner will take over leading the group with sets, feedback, drills, etc. until practice is over at 8:30 a.m. At times there will be some crossover drills with the younger group after their warm up, but there will a good focus on skills and form with Coach Wagner and the other coaches.
Practice for the 13 and under group will begin at 7:30 a.m. with the coaches leading warms ups, stretches, and a few drills. The groups will then continue practice together with drills and skill practice that is appropriate for both groups. There will be a good focus on skills and form with all coaches during this time. By 8:30 a.m. all coaches will focus on the younger group with feedback that will assist in helping them continue to grow and learn.
Equipment the athletes will need: Caps, goggles
Recommendations for swimsuits: polyester suits will last, lycra suits fall apart within a month; speedo brands their polyester suits as Endurance +
